I have a passion for learning how to take ownership of your own health and wellbeing, consuming whole foods and using natural methods to prepare, cook and preserve food.
High Vibrational Foods
Everything in the universe is made up of energy that vibrates at a certain frequency, including ourselves and the foods we eat.

High Vibrational Foods
Everything in the universe is made up of energy that vibrates at a certain frequency, including ourselves and the foods we eat.
If what you eat is nutrient-poor and processed, your energetic vibration will be drastically reduced. You will feel tired, maybe a little sad and discouraged.
The closer to nature the food is, the less processed, the more vibrant with energy it is. High vibrational foods, such as fermented foods, raises your vibration and boost your energy levels when consumed. They are also very nourishing and healing.
I came across the benefits of fermented foods on my journey to improve my own health- mind, body and spirit, and I subsequently make and eat them daily.
Liv Foods came about because I wanted to share my understanding, knowledge and produce with others who are curious and also want to learn, improve and develop.
We make the wild fermented foods with the intent to nourish and heal the body.
You can always send me a message if you would like to know more about the process of wild fermentation or my personal journey to better health.

So what exactly are fermented foods?
A simple definition is that fermented foods are the transformation of raw foods into fermented foods by microorganisms naturally present on the food and in our environment.
A more scientific explanation is that when the raw vegetables are immersed in brine, Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) convert
the carbohydrate contents of the raw vegetables into lactic acid, which in turn decreases the pH of the fermented vegetables giving it those wonderful health benefits and that distinct sour and tangy flavour.
Fermented foods are about distinct flavours and textures that creates memories. They are about consuming natural foods and they are about improving overall health and well being.
What is wild fermentation?
The wild or spontaneous fermentation process used by Liv Foods lets nature take its course, leading to variations in the flavour and texture profile of the
products, and differ according to the quality and characteristics of the raw vegetables, the harvesting conditions and the temperature of the environment in which the vegetable are fermented.
This means that every batch that is created varies slightly in how it looks and tastes and that is the beauty of truly alive foods.
LAB and health benefits
LAB that has been isolated from fermented vegetables include
Lactobacillus plantarum, Lb. brevis, Lb. lactis, Lb. paraplantarum, Lb. hilgardii,
Pediococcus cerevisiae, Leuconostoc mesenteroides, and Lactococcus lactis.
Other benefits of fermented foods are the increased vitamin and mineral content of the vegetable. Raw cabbage for example, already contains around 30mg Vitamin C per cup but when you ferment cabbage into sauerkraut, its Vitamin C levels increase and range from 57 to 695 mg — with raw, fermented red cabbage having the highest levels of Vitamin C, hitting almost 700 mg per cup.
Fermented foods are also easier to digest meaning that energy spent on on digesting foods can be used for other activities.
How much should I eat?
If you are new to fermented foods then it is recommended that you start of with a small amount and see how your body reacts.
Fermented foods are not recommended to those who have a compromised digestive system. Histamine intolerance is another instance where fermented foods are best avoided.
Once you have healed your gut you can introduce fermented foods into your diet. The importance of healing your gut to improve your overall health can not be emphasised enough.
