I clearly remember the first time I was told about deforestation and the devastating effect it has on our ecosystems. It was during a 'geografi' lesson at school and I must have been around 9 years old at the time. The class had previously raised some money and we were now told that we would use this to plant trees in the Amazon.
I thought it the most wonderful thing to do and I was feeling very proud of being able to give something back to the Earth.
That feeling of pride, of having done something good, of giving back, has been with me since and I thought what better way is there for Liv Foods and our customers to give back, then to plant trees.
Having already introduced the use of fully biodegradable packaging to protect our environment, we now also plant trees for every order we receive with the help of our planting partner Eden Reforestation Projects.
The trees are currently planted in Nepal, Madagascar, Kenya, Indonesia, Mozambique, Haiti Central America and Brazil.
They are native species to each country, and aim to offset carbon dioxide emission whilst having the least amount of harm on the local biodiversity.
Reforestation not only restores the environment, protecting thousands of endemic plant and animal species but also creates job opportunities for the often impoverished local population.
